Of course, there are parts of my college experience that are not overtly political.
Improv
After auditioning and being rejected (!!) Freshmen year, I chose to persevere and not let one collegiate improv audition define my character or value as a human being. I ended up auditioning the next year-- over Zoom, mind you-- and got on, which of course defined my inherent worth. And wow, this group changed my life forever (or, as the high school theater kid in me would say, "For Good"). After a year of Zoom improv performances, in-person shows with horrifying see-through masks, and an array of festivals and events, I can confidently say that was one of the best things I have ever done. The best thing about improv is that once you do it, you can never feel shame again, because doing scenes about elves having financial woes is as worse as it gets!
